I am proud to call Pleasant Hill my home. For over a decade, I’ve lived here, raised my family here, and dedicated my time to making our community stronger, more welcoming, and better prepared for the future. Pleasant Hill has given me so much, and I am committed to giving back through service, leadership, and action.
My Professional Journey
I earned my Doctor of Medicine degree from UC San Francisco and went on to complete residency and fellowship subspecialty training at UC Davis and Stanford University. Before becoming a physician, I earned degrees in Civil/Environmental Engineering and Biological Sciences at UC Davis, an educational path that taught me to solve problems with both technical precision and creativity. These experiences shape how I approach challenges: with discipline, compassion, and a solutions-focused mindset.

Serving Pleasant Hill
In 2020, I was honored to be elected to the Pleasant Hill Recreation and Park District Board, where I currently serve as Board Chair. In years past, I have had the privilege to serve as Board Vice Chair and Board Secretary.
As Chair of the Personnel Committee, I worked to align staff salaries with regional standards and introduced new performance metrics to improve accountability. As Chair of Budget and Finance, I pushed for transparent reporting, prioritized balanced budgets, invested in capital improvements, and made paying down debt a top priority. In the five years I have been on the Board, I am proud to have run annual budget surpluses and using those funds to invest back into the community.
As a member of both the Programs Committee and the Land and Facilities Committee, I’ve also worked to ensure our community’s values are reflected in our programs and facilities. I helped craft the District’s first Play for All Policy which resulted in Pleasant Hill's first World Fusion Festival, collaborated to bring new play equipment to our Parks, supported the design of a modern restroom facility at Rodgers-Smith Park, partnered with Bay Area Bike Project for the design of a temporary Bike Park, and teamed up with the Pleasant Hill Night Market to reinvigorate an underutilized park. This was all accomplished without increasing taxes.
Beyond the Park District, I was deeply involved in the Pleasant Hill Commission on Aging for over seven years, where I served as Chair from 2021–2022. I presented to City Council on issues such as senior demographics, Aging in Place Housing policies, mobility improvements, and environmental justice. I also helped secure a city proclamation honoring Older Americans Month. I have been an expert speaker at numerous workshops at the Pleasant Hill Senior Center and I was the founder of the Intergenerational Ice Cream Makerspace which has made an appearance at the Pleasant Hill Tinkers and Thinkers event two years in a row. Through my work on multiple committees, I have advocated for healthy, livable communities across all age groups and promoted multigenerational programs that build respect and understanding.
Community Involvement
What I value most about Pleasant Hill is our strong sense of community, and I strive to embody that spirit in everything I do. I am deeply invested in making our city a welcoming place for all, just as it is for my own family. My professional background has instilled in me the importance of warmth, honesty, and a deep personal commitment which I carry over to my community work. I believe in showing up and lending a hand, whether it's volunteering at Valhalla Elementary’s community gardens, participating in citywide service days and clean-up events, or marching proudly in our 4th of July parades.
My involvement goes beyond hands-on volunteering and includes leveraging my professionalism and competence to advocate for our shared vision. I was a passionate advocate for early childhood education through the Family Advisory Board at Center of Gravity and was a lifetime member of the Friends of the Pleasant Hill Library. Furthermore, I provided thoughtful input on key civic initiatives that shape our future, including the Pleasant Hill 2040 General Plan, the Pleasant Hill Recreation and Park District Master Plan, the Pleasant Hill Bike and Pedestrian Plan, the Pleasant Hill Climate Action Plan, and the development of the new Pleasant Hill Library. These activities demonstrate a consistent commitment and build the trust needed to ensure policy is well-informed and driven by the best interests of our community.
A Poem for Pleasant Hill

In Pleasant Hill where stories unfold,
Historic roots and traditions retold,
With diversity shining,
And families thriving,
A community so vibrant and bold.
Ode to Pleasant Hill Rec and Park
By PHRPD Chair Quy Tran 7/4/25
In Pleasant Hill, our spirit is bright,
Our parks are a wonderous sight,
Rec & Park leads the way,
Bringing joy every day,
With laughter, we spark pure delight!
My Vision for Pleasant Hill
I believe Pleasant Hill thrives when we lead with accountability, inclusion, and fiscal responsibility while never losing sight of the people we serve. Whether it’s through thoughtful policy, responsible budgeting, or simply volunteering alongside my neighbors, I am committed to helping our city grow stronger while preserving the small-town character we all cherish.
I bring not only professional experience and a proven record of results, but also a deep love for this community and a belief in its potential. I am independent, practical, and solutions minded. Together, we can build a thriving Pleasant Hill. The time to move Pleasant Hill forward starts now.
